Communities
The Uxbridge Farmers' Market offers a variety of interactive programming for kids to enjoy while their families shop at the market. These include but are not limited to sensory play tables, colouring sheets, scavenger hunts, and simple arts and crafts. Volunteers attending the Kids' Zone are responsible for:
- hyping up the Kids' Zone area
- welcoming kids and families over
- encouraging kids to participate
- offering simple instruction and low-level support for kids' activities
- assisting with basic setup/cleanup
The Uxbridge Farmers' Market runs 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Sunday rain or shine - volunteers must dress for the weather as the market is outdoors.
The Kids' Zone is NOT a daycare service and children are not to be left in the care of the Kids' Zone Volunteer.
Demonstrate daily activities of museum woodwork shop * create items for sale in gift shop * use skills to repair and restore existing village buildings
Seeking volunteer male mentors for boys ages 9 - 16. Must be 21+ and preferably identifies as representing the Afro-Canadian Black community. If you are empathetic, kind and caring, we would love to connect you with a youth in need of support and guidance. Position is hybrid (both in person and virtual), and commit to at least 6 months. Be a part of a team of museum village gardeners * assist in the research, planning, planting, and maintenance of the heritage gardens
Support museum programs and activies by assisting with wayfinding, crafts and activities, building interpretation, and setup/take down.
Katimavik’s National Experience is an opportunity for any Canadian citizens, permanent residents or landed refugees aged 17 – 25 who are looking for 5.5 months of creative learning, community engagement, Truth and Reconciliation, and self-discovery * participants will live in a group setting with up to 10 of their peers in two separate communities throughout the course of the program * during the program they engage in 32 hours of valuable volunteer work a week, learn how to manage a house, make lifelong friends, and gain confidence that they themselves can make an impactful difference in our country.
This is a fully funded opportunity where participants’ travel expenses, living accommodations, food costs, and daily needs are covered * participants will need to bring is their dedication, empathy, and commitment to making a better world * Katimavik aims to help young folks become engaged, caring citizens and capable contributors and leaders for a better Canada through the development of 21st century skills, experiential learning, and civic engagement.
Program cohorts start every January and July of each year.
Support the visitors' program experience by assisting with crafts and activities, way finding, building interpretation, setup/take down.
Provide excellent customer service to all Whitby Courthouse Theatre patrons in roles such as ushering, concessions sales, ticket scanners, etc.
