Letters Against Isolation volunteers send friendly, handwritten letters to senior citizens in aged care homes and programs. Join us in writing thoughtful, unique letters and cards to seniors in care facilities in Canada and worldwide:

- We strictly protect the privacy of our writers and our seniors.
- Letters should be uplifting and addressed to a “friend” rather than a specific person.
- Your words will be read and cherished by elders who likely won’t have the physical ability or resources to respond to you.
- We offer numerous blogposts with ideas about what to write and how to decorate your letters.
- You’ll need to supply your own stationery and ensure adequate postage to mail your letters to our partner facilities, which are currently located in Canada, the US, the UK and Australia.
- We welcome employers, teachers, students, foreign language students, clubs, organizations, and writers of all ages.
To get started, register as an individual, student or group on our website. You will receive our weekly newsletter and gain access to our web portal, where you’ll sign up to mail letters to any of our designated partner facilities.
We are seeking letter writers who will participate year-round, individually or as a group, in English or one of 30 different languages, across the US or globally. Just one letter makes a difference!
Porter resident to and from activity * assist with board and card games * encourage conversation between residents
Assist with planning and leading a weekly walking group for people living with dementia and their care partners * this program is designed to promote physical activity and socialization by providing a fun and safe outing opportunity.
Assist staff with social and recreational activities * work one on one with a client * help with meal preparation, serving meals and other kitchen duties
**Due to COVID-19, these are face to face outdoor visits in a mutually agreed upon space. Have a porch visit. Go for a walk.
